Scholastic:how to read art

1-The first step to reading art is observation. its importance is you can learn a lot from just looking at the art for symbols within the subject and within the color chosen.
2-Rachel Ruysch's style relates to her subjects by using line variation and painting in depth and space to display its delicate nature and it matters due to its extensive use of detail.
3-Vincent Van Gogh's technique shows a lot of feeling and shows the thought proccess within the brush strokes and their width and direction, he wants it to be the subject but not the illusion of the subject being there.
4-The Ambassadors piece shows symbolism within in it that shows a set of well educated men with tools around them that help drive this forward.
5-Diego Rivera simplifies his figures features because it allows the actions of the subjects to stand out rather than their faces and forms.
6-David Hockney narrates through the actions of the water that has been splashed in since typically when someone jumps in water and splashes you cannot see them.
7-Kehinde Wiley place his figures in the same spot as where the subject in Anthony van Dych's to portray the same scene but with a different race to show emphasis of the position
8-The context is that position his subject is in was held by others and that it showed that they are able to be in that position. It helps you understand his message that they can be in that noble position.
9-Jacques' composition enhances the narrative through symbols and emotions of the subjects to push forward the paintings meaning in the name.
10-what do you see? How does the artist work? whats the story? when does it take place? Who is the artist? These questions help give knowledge of why it is the way it is and what it is trying to depict.

1-The first thing you do when you look at art should be to observe it. Observation can show its meaning and shed light on its context and why it was created.
2-The techniques Rachel Ruysch, Vincent van Gogh, and Georgia O'Keeffe use is within the brush strokes, the brush strokes depict its meaning and feeling that is wanted to be portrayed.
3-The objects on the shelves are important in The Ambassadors because they show knowledge about the people depicted in this painting and show importance of those people.
4-Anthony van Dyck shows power through position and clothing, background and lighting, it gives the illusion of the position that is being portrayed.
5-The story that Jacques-Louis David is of a promise of a family, The brothers take an oath to their father, the swords are used to symbolize that promise they are pledging to.
